北头历史保护区是一个愉快的和风景秀丽的步行20分钟 Devonport Ferry Terminal.  步行是一个欣赏豪拉基湾和奥克兰天际线景色的机会.

北角充满了历史和美丽的景色 Cheltenham beach, Waitemata Harbour, Auckland city, Mount Victoria Reserve and the Hauraki Gulf.

步行20分钟即可到达山顶，沿途有一系列隧道，可以探索，还有许多提醒人们过去军事历史的枪支.  1941年，当日本加入第二次世界大战时，北黑德岛的防御工事最后一次扩大规模，当时，为了应对从未发生过的入侵，枪支被伪装了起来.

今天，环境保护部(DOC)维护着每天开放的区域.  游客也可以开车部分上山，并提供停车场.

整个保护区有很多座位区可以欣赏风景.  这里也有通往僻静海湾和切尔滕纳姆海滩的小路.
